Fox news reports that Virginia is the first state to require internet safety lessons. Virginia assistant attorney general Gene Fishel goes around education teens on internet safety. She makes presentations on the dangers that are out there. She makes the point that even though a someones profile may make them seem like a nice person, they may not be who they say they are. She says you should not make contact with people you meet on the internet unless you meet them on a secure website. 

Many sexual predators may make fake profiles on social networking sites trying to take advantage of unsuspecting victims. Fishel says you should be very careful on the internet, and know who you are really talking to.

Commonsensemedia.org says you may be more public on the internet then you thought. When you enter information into a website, it may not be as secure as you think. When information gets put on the internet it stays there for a long time. This may put you or you computer and software at risk. 

If you check in on Facebook you are broadcasting where you are to hundreds of people. The information you put on Facebook when you sign up may also put you in danger. You need to make sure that you hide that personal information. You may also want to make sure that you are careful with whom you are chatting with. Some websites randomly set you up with someone to chat with.

Kids Health says that parents should pay more attention to their children, especially when they use the internet. A child who is old enough to use a keyboard can access the whole world. It says that with just a few missed key strokes the child can end up on a completely different website. 

Parents should install a security software, and set up safety features on their browser to keep their kids safe. If your child has a website that they enjoy getting on frequently, they say you should bookmark that website for easy access. That way there can't be any messing up when typing in the web address.

On Microsoft's online Safety and Security Center it has several good tips to help keep you and your computer safe. Its first suggestion is to keep all of your software and browsers  up to date. If you have old software or browsers that are not updated, it is easy for them to break down and allow viruses to infiltrate your computer.  Another good tip it has is to keep all of your sensitive information password protected, and to make sure you are using a secure software.

The article also says do not plug in any foreign flash drive or external hard drive into your computer. This may contain a virus that your computer is not immune to, and it can damage your computer. The last useful tip that Microsoft had was that you should not click on any pop-ups or windows. These may cause your computer to crash.

This article talks about the way Google+ has been optimized for the work place. Google+ has been advanced so that it works better with the Google apps and Gmail. Google+ is supposed to increase productivity in the workplace instead of distracting workers. The reason being, Google apps are so widely used. Thanks to its new design called the Enterprise division. This enterprise "secret weapon" likely includes getting business employees to look to Google for email, for Google Docs and especially Google Calendar. With the connection to all of these great Google apps tethered into Google+, the hope is that while workers are on this social networking site, they will utilize the other apps, increasing productivity.
